DRAFT AGENDA: NCRI GENETIC VARIATION & CANCER WORKSHOP
Friday 3 February 2006
Royal Society, 6-9 Carlton Terrace London, SW1V 5AG

INTRODUCTION
Genetic Variation studies are providing new information about cancer at a massive rate. While there is outstanding potential for application in cancer prevention and care it is becoming clear that interpretation of data is a complex problem, which needs to be approached in a systematic way if valid conclusions are to be drawn. Genetic Variation data are a key part of the information available to the cancer researcher and clinician. The requirements for reporting, storage, acquisition and integration of these data across technologies such as genotyping, diagnostics, array based technologies and emerging technologies in cancer research and healthcare environment will be explored at this one day invitation only workshop organised by the NCRI Informatics Initiative (www.cancerinformatics.org.uk). The NCRI Board is committed to this initiative and future funding will be available for relevant projects in this area.
