Partners
The NCRI Informatics Initiative currently works with a range of organisations all of whom have similar objectives in facilitating data sharing, integration, access and dissemination through the utilisation of informatics technology and concepts. We believe that working collaboratively is the most effective way to maximise the impact of all our efforts to ensure that the data generated in basic research is expediently, effectively and accurately translated to the clinic for the benefit of patients and the public.
The Nature of our Collaborative Relationships
Our working relations with our partners fall into four main categories. The first is that of a ‘Strategic Partner’. These are organisations with which we have formed a formal working relationship and work in conjunction with to deliver specific bodies of work or projects, generally at a national or international level. The second are the ‘NCRI Partners’. The NCRI Partners are the 21 leading funders of cancer research in the UK. Our initiative is part of the NCRI family and is partly funded and managed by the NCRI. Our work aims to support the research funded by the NCRI partners hence we work closely with a number of the NCRI organisation on a range of topics. The third type of working relationship is that of ‘Collaborator’. These are organisations that share our vision and with which we work closely. Finally, we also work with a range of organisations that we term ‘Resources’ these include networks, working groups, research institutes, etc who we work with informally in taking forward the aims of our initiative.
