The matrix is designed to provide information about UK and international informatics activity. The level of activity is colour coded using a "traffic-lights system":

GREEN - there is an established standard(s) in this area, careful thought should be given before funding or starting work in this area

AMBER - some work is already underway, please check ongoing work before funding/commencing a new project and collaborate where possible

RED - no work being done, funding agencies may think of a call for proposals

This is not an exhaustive list of all the informatics activity within an area and we welcome suggestions from Principal Investigators who would like their projects to be included.
